March Training Runs 2008

  • Wednesday, March 5: 3.5 on Treadmill (TEZ)--felt really, really tired (still trying to recover from this fierce rotten no good chest cold)
  • Thursday, March 6: 10.2 miles with Steve (all over, Katy, then town); cold; probably overdid it, but nice to get out...
  • Friday, March 7: 6.5 on Katy in p.m. (cold, windy) (49:29)
  • Saturday, March 8: 11 miles in 1:18:23 (7:08 average pace)--felt solid
  • Sunday, March 9: No running (left knee giving me some achey pains)
  • Monday, March 10: No running (in KC all day at library to study)
  • Tuesday, March 11: 6.5 on Katy in 49:16 (EZ; felt good once I started running)
  • Wednesday, March 12: No running--crazy day. Beth got a steroid injection in her lower back...
  • Thursday, March 13: 6.5 on Katy in 48:52 (ran in the cold and rain. Lots of people out running, so that was kinda cool to see them. I love the 'runner's nod'--the way we say hi to each other--so subtle. Also, I saw a red-tailed hawk at the beginning of my run in the trees just a few feet from my right--pretty awesome).
  • Friday, March 14: 10.25 mi. on Katy (1:20:34)...EZ
  • Saturday, March 15: 8.0 Treadmill EZ (rainy and 40s outside--I hate those conditions!)
  • Sunday, March 16: No Running
  • Monday, March 17: 8 miles inside lower level of Hearnes Center (1:01:45)...ran the first 5 with Steve, then dropped the pace a bit after he left to finish the last 3 strong...
  • Tuesday, March 18: No running--my day was chalked full of appointments and meetings and appointments. It was a good day--just overflowing with stuff...
  • Wednesday, March 19: 8 mile city loop in 56:55 (about 7:07 avg pace). Didn't mean to go so fast, but felt solid--it was about 40 degrees, cloudy and grey)
  • Thursday, March 20: 10.25 mi. on Katy--nice Spring day--60s...Ran it in 1:15:48--extremely difficult and felt very fatigued but finished it anyway...
  • Friday, March 21: 10.25 mi. on Katy--nice like yesterday. Told myself to only run about 6.5 or 8 in total and to go slow for a recovery day--but to my surprise ran same route as yesterday--felt freer, more relaxed, more energized, etc. Burned the last mile in 6:23. Ran total time of 1:14:59. Good to see lots of other runners--love the comraderie!
  • Saturday, March 22: From Steve's house we ran 5.15 in 38:49. Felt good--EZ.
  • Sunday, March 23: No Running
  • Monday, March 24: 10.25 on Katy in 1:15:21. Felt good and solid. John O'Keefe rode alongside--it was really nice to have his company and get reacquainted.
  • Tuesday, March 25: 11 miles near house, EZ pace.
  • Wednesday, March 26: 10.25 on Katy in 1:19:57. EZ, felt tired but good...slightly cold.
  • Thursday, March 27: 6.5 on Katy, first two miles: 6:30; 6:42; then felt pain in left leg, so I pulled the plug to run EZ the rest of the way
  • Friday, March 28: 12.2 on Katy in 1:34:53 (EZ pace)--felt tired but was able to grind out a good long run...
  • Saturday, March 29: No Running--took the day off
  • Sunday, March 30: 10.25 on Katy (EZ) in 1:18:03
  • Monday, March 31: 80 laps inside the Hearnes Lower Level = 10 miles (1:19:29)--although, I think I accidentally ran an extra lap!
